E.L.A. 10

Welcome to Mr. Flood’s English 10 web space.

Supplementary Silent Reading (SSR) Expectations:
As mentioned in the course outline, students in this class will read silently at the begining of class for about 10-15 minutes. This reading is supplementary (in addition) to what we will study together in class. Students are expected to come to class every single day with a book to read for silent reading time. Students are also expected to read for an hour and a half every week (totaling about 6 hours each month) outside of the classroom. Students will need to fill out an SSR log sheet in order to keep track of their reading in class and at home. Parents/guardians are expected to verify that students are reading. Please check with students to see what/how much they are reading, and sign their SSR log sheet.

In addition, students are expected to write one full page journal entry each week reflecting on what they have read. The first SSR check will be on Tuesday, February 12th. Students should have read for over an hour and a half at home and completed one journal entry by Tuesday.
